Is your family prepared for an emergency?

In most emergencies, it will take emergency responders or other aid hours or days to help everyone.  A good rule of thumb is "the first 48 hours, you're on your own".  Even in smaller emergencies, families may find themselves without immediate support.

Does your family know what to do in an emergency?  Do you know what you'd do if you didn't have power for days?  Do you have an emergency kit?

Consider making a kit using 20 Days to Preparedness before an emergency happen.  This spreads out the expenses of making a kit.  Use it as a family activity and ensure your family is ready when needed.

Emergency preparedness is a community effort and SDHD plans with local health care providers, hospitals, and emergency planners and responders on a regular basis. We plan, train, collaborate, exercise and support each other’s unique roles in helping our community navigate emergencies. SDHD is also a member of the local Joint Information Center (JIC) that help coordinate communications during emergencies.
