Benefits include Health Insurance with excellent coverage. Single dental coverage is offered at no expense to the employee, with a family option available. Retirement benefit is through Iowa Public Employee Retirement System (IPERS). Employer contribution is 9.44% with employee contribution of 6.29%. SDHD also provides 10 paid holidays and 2 personal days per year. Starting vacation is accrued at a 2 week a year rate and sick leave is also available at about 8 hours per month. New SDHD employees are eligible for 5% annual raises with acceptable performance the first five years of their employment in addition to an annual cost of living increase.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for promoting and providing a welcoming atmosphere to clients and members of the community seeking assistance and services from Siouxland District Health Department. Duties include answering phones, providing direction and assistance to clients in multiple public health programs, scheduling client appointments, collect fees, verify insurance status, enroll and screen clients, collect data and maintain client records. Receive cash receipts and balance daily receipts following established Administrative Services Division cash handling procedures. Under limited supervision, general clerical work which follows well-established procedures. Reports directly to the Clinic Intake Manager.
APPLICANTS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a high school diploma or GED and minimum of one year experience performing general office work in a health or human service professional setting preferred; bilingual Spanish/English skills required; CPR Certification required or willing to obtain; computer skills needed; ability to communicate with diverse populations and to work independently with minimal supervision; physical ability to transport essential supplies and to lift up to 50 pounds.
