Public Health Dietitian- Hybrid Work

Hybrid work model - SDHD is seeking a Public Health Dietitian for their Women's Infant and Children (WIC) Program. This position serves as the competent professional authority for determination of WIC Program eligibility and certification following assessment of individual anthropometric, biochemical and dietary data.  Possessing this knowledge of nutritional needs across the maternal child health life span and using critical thinking skills, the Dietitian will provide nutrition assessment, education, referral, care coordination services and tailor the WIC food prescription to meet individual nutrition needs of the participant.  Promotion and support will be provided to breastfeeding woman, their infants and breastfeeding efforts. This position works with a team of competent professional authorities to complete this work.  Please consider applying if you are interested and meet the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in nutrition, dietetics, food systems management or closely related field.
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Dietitian in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Dietetic Examinors or able to obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Current dietetic registration preferred through the Commission on Dietetic Registration for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligible for registration within 6 months of employment. 
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in general dietetics is desired with experience in maternal/child nutrition preferred
  • Must have Mandatory Child and Adult Abuse Reporter Certificate or willing to obtain.
  • CPR Certification required or be willing to attend training. 
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and ability to obtain car insurance at agency- specified liability level.
