COVID-19 Vaccine Information for
Woodbury County
Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine Update:
On April 12, 2021, the CDC and FDA announced a pause in the use of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine due to a small number of reports of a rare and severe type of blood clot, in order to further review these cases and assess their significance. There have been 6 cases of this type of blood clot reported out of over 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine that have been administered in the US, so it is extremely rare with less than one case for each one million doses administered.
SDHD will be pausing use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine until further notice; however, this vaccine is only a very small percentage of the vaccine that has been given in Woodbury County. SDHD did have some small clinics planned to administer Johnson & Johnson vaccine this week that will be postponed at this time.
